To those no-gooding me, do you seriously believe that Ryan Webb would have gotten the same range of interviews/flyouts if he were not coming from NYU and not having letters from NYU? Publications definitely help but may not be enough for top school flyouts (which is what the original post was all about).
This brings the main point: the Queen's logo without Webb's publications (i.e. just having them as working papers) and NYU pedigree attached to letters is unlikely to have gotten him the range of flyouts he got.
Because you are claiming the success of candidates from other schools as your own. You placed someone as a post-doc a few years back and this is all you've been able to do.
If you have any post-docs currently in your program, please brag about their success.
Not OP. But don't get why everyone is so pissed. Toronto had a great year in 09 and 13. Queen's will most likely have a good year this time. What is the big deal?
