The academic market is over, unless you're willing to take a visiting or lecturer position. Government and private sector are still hiring, though, so I would apply for anything you can.
This is a lie. There are departments that get a sudden need to fill a spot and that will visit the market well off the regular job market schedule. Some of these jobs can be tenure track jobs (just don't expect good ones). But it is true that that most of the academic jobs bunch up around AEA time because these things are planned and that the best period of time to interview a lot of people from a wide range of ranks at the same time. Just keep looking. Maybe you might prefer a private sector job (a friend of mine f**ked up the market and then afterwards got an offer in a place that pays him double what he would have received in any academic job he could ever dream of reaching... well above the best econ jobs in the best paying business schools... but he was lucky the spot opened up when he started applying... so: apply apply apply)
